Tell me more about The Five Satins and their music.

The Five Satins were an American doo-wop group best known for their song “In the Still of the Night”. The group formed in New Haven, Connecticut in 1954 and consisted of lead singer Fred Parris, tenor Frank Hubbell, baritone Bill Baker, bass Sterl Price, and drummer Jimmy Merchant.

The Five Satins had several other hits including “To the Aisle” and “Shadows”. Despite their success, the group was never able to achieve the same level of popularity as other doo-wop groups of the time such as The Platters or The Drifters. The Five Satins disbanded in the early 1960s but have since been cited as an influence by many artists, including Bruce Springsteen and The Beach Boys.

Notable songs by The Five Satins include:

1) In the Still of the Night

2) To the Aisle

3) Shadows

4) I Believe

5) We Belong Together

A famous quote from The Five Satins is…

“Our music will live on forever.”
